INSPIRATION

Combining the image of a beautiful woman and a horse, this whimsical work was inspired by the Ancient Greek story of Helen and the Fall of Troy. Helen was the married beauty who fell in love with Paris; and it was their love that caused a war and the Fall of Troy in the 12th century BC. Helen was married and she was taken away to Troy by Paris. The Greeks beseiged the city of Troy for 10 years because she was not returned to her husband, the king.

In my work, both the horse and the reclining nude figure of Helen are asleep; Helen is dreaming of her lover Paris.  I have also refered to the Wooden Horse of Troy indirectly as it is also part of the story.

I have made this whimsical sculpture to celebrate the dreams of lovers with the beauty of a dark horse.
