This vase was inspired by an article I read in the news about areas in South Africa that are still in dire need of water! Even though this vase is created in a whimsical type style, the theme is none the less important.
The vase has 2 different sides and depicts 2 African men carrying a container on their heads filled with water, obviously not received from a household tap…but maybe from a nearby stream or river?
This is a ‘one- off” vase. It is slip cast with hand built extensions. Hand painted using commercial under glazes and copper oxide. It is fired to 1200’C.
This vase was made during level 5 Lock down 2020.
